My Planned Care
A website providing advice and information for patients whilst waiting for surgery, treatment or clinical consultation.
The website provides information about waiting times at your hospital or treatment centre and the site is updated weekly. My Planned Care gives you advice and support while you wait and helps you prepare for your hospital consultation, treatment, or surgery.
If you are looking for an update, please check this website before contacting your hospital or GP. Your hospital team will be in touch with you as soon as they can. Find more information here.

How to order a repeat prescription
If you take medicine regularly, you will usually have a repeat prescription. This means you can order your medicine when you need it, without having to see a GP every time.
There are 3 ways you can order your repeat prescription from the surgery:
• Using online services such as: The NHS App, Airmid App, A Pharmacy App, or SystmOnline.
• By contacting your local pharmacy.
• In writing - you can hand in or post your written request or repeat slip to the practice.
Further information on the NHS App and using online services can be found on our website. Please also ask at reception.
In order to avoid and reduce the risk of errors we are unable to take prescription requests over the telephone or via email.

Fear of Flying – Practice Policy on Prescribing
Following a review of our benzodiazepine prescribing, from the 1st of April 2024, we introduced a new policy not to prescribe benzodiazepines or sedatives (eg diazepam) to patients for the purpose of fear of flying. We are not unique in this, and many other GP practices have recently introduced similar policies.
This policy decision has been made by the GP Partners and is adhered to by all prescribers working in the practice.
We appreciate a fear of flying is very real and very frightening and can be debilitating. However, there are much better and effective ways of tackling the problem.
We recommend you tackle your problem with a Fear of Flying Course, these are run by several airlines.
The courses are far more effective than diazepam, and the positive effects of the courses continue after the courses have been completed. Visit our website for further information.
Patients are asked not to make appointments for these types of requests as we will not prescribe diazepam. Please respect our receptionists when they explain this is practice policy, and why an appointment is not appropriate.

Long-term conditions
Over the next few months, we will be reviewing our monitoring and management of long-term conditions to improve care for our patients.
The Patient Participation Group (PPG) are supporting us with this project.
Patient Participation Group
Joining the PPG gives patients the opportunity to provide feedback to the practice representing the views of patients, get involved in practice projects and events and helps patients understand the challenges in general practice.
If you are interested in joining our PPG and finding out more about how your GP practice works and about the health services it delivers, please ask at reception, or complete a PPG sign up form from our website.
Next PPG meeting - Thursday 20th February: 1pm to 2.30pm, online via Teams.
Farewell and Happy Retirement!
At the end of 2024 we said Farewell and Happy Retirement to our lovely Practice Nurse - June Reed. June joined the Practice in 1991 and has been with us for 33 years!
Aside from nursing June has many skills including creating beautiful handmade greeting cards and baking the most delicious cakes!
We will all miss June very much and wish June a long, happy and healthy retirement.

Do something amazing - Give Blood
Your blood donation is an amazing gift to people who need it!
Blood stocks are running critically low, and the blood donor service needs around 5,000 people to give blood every day to meet the current needs of hospitals and patients.
The blood donor service is asking for new blood donors, particularly younger donors in the age bracket of 17-35 years of age. They are trying to recruit this age bracket in the hope these donors will continue to donate & therefore takeover from the current over 50’s who will need to stop at the age of 70.
You can sign up to donate from age 17 and if you donate you will also find out which blood group you are, and which hospital your donation has been sent to. You will receive a drink and chocolate biscuit/savoury snack afterwards and a certificate & badge after 25, 50 and 75 donations.
Each donation takes no longer than an hour. Visit for further information and to find out where your nearest blood donor station is.
Why not do Something Amazing Today!

Keep in Touch & Warm Welcome Spaces
Keep in Touch began as a lockdown project, delivering shopping and prescriptions to vulnerable people. It has gone through many changes as times demanded but the aim has always been to fight isolation and loneliness and to connect us to each other and our communities.
The original mailing list came out of the Refresh Keep in Touch shopping and prescription collection service during lockdown. Namely a list of the more vulnerable people in our community. After time when people wanted to meet up but felt unsafe; the Keep in Touch project moved on and provided safe spaces, indoors and out, to meet for a walk, exercise or a cuppa.
When the energy crisis hit and Warm Welcome spaces started up, lots of churches who had previously held coffee mornings and community lunches started up again.
Events and Activities
Keep in Touch is now a monthly programme of events and activities which are free or low cost.
You will find a warm welcome and friendly faces at all of the activities and events listed on the programme. There is also information on the back about other community spaces.
Weymouth Bay Medical Practice are pleased to promote and share the Keep in Touch Program, with posters in the waiting room and published monthly on our Face Book page.
The programme can be posted or emailed to you free of charge every month. Phone Jackie on 07902217942 or email keepintouch.weymouth@gmail.com for more information.
